OnePlus is preparing to introduce the OnePlus Nord 6 in India on April 6, amidst shutdown rumors. This new smartphone will succeed the OnePlus Nord 5, launched last July. The OnePlus Nord 6 will showcase a revamped rear camera setup and a design similar to the latest OnePlus 15. Additionally, the device will come equipped with an upgraded chipset.
Although the rear camera specifications are anticipated to remain unchanged from its predecessor, there could be a downgrade in the front camera compared to the previous model.
Debayan Roy, a tipster, suggests that the OnePlus Nord 6 might be priced above Rs 35,000 in India, marking a noticeable increase from previous Nord models. This aligns with the current trend of smartphone companies launching new models at higher prices due to the global rise in RAM costs. For reference, the OnePlus Nord 5 was introduced at Rs 31,999, while the OnePlus Nord 4 and OnePlus Nord 3 were priced at Rs 29,999 and Rs 33,999, respectively.
The OnePlus Nord 6 will be available for purchase starting April 9 through various channels including OnePlus’s website, Amazon, OnePlus Experience stores, and select retail outlets.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus Nord 6 will sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. This is a notable upgrade from its predecessor, the OnePlus Nord 5, which featured the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform, up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.
Photography-wise, the OnePlus Nord 6 will retain the 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA primary sensor with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera found in the OnePlus Nord 5. However, the front camera on the Nord 6 is expected to be a 32-megapixel punch-hole selfie camera, a step down from the 50-megapixel front camera on the previous model.
The display on the OnePlus Nord 6 will see a significant enhancement, featuring a display with up to a 165Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits, dropping to 2 nits for nighttime viewing. In contrast, the OnePlus Nord 5 had a display with a 144Hz refresh rate and brightness ranging between 800 nits and 1,800 nits.
Moreover, the OnePlus Nord 6 will house a 9,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging and 27W reverse wired charging, surpassing the 6,800mAh battery, 80W wired charging, and 5W reverse charging of the OnePlus Nord 5.
