National"Senior Couple Shot in Targeted Attack: Trial Unveils Intricate Web"

A senior couple in their 70s from Dieppe were each shot once by a man who was reportedly instructed by a drug network to target their son, as revealed by Crown prosecutor Brad Burgess during a presentation to a Moncton jury. Burgess shared images of Bernard Saulnier, 78, found on the bedroom floor, and his wife, Rose-Marie Saulnier, 74, discovered on a bed in their home. The prosecutor highlighted the tragic incident, emphasizing the mystery surrounding the motives and methods of the crime.

Burgess meticulously detailed the forthcoming evidence, including testimonies, forensic reports, and other crucial information that will be presented over the course of the extensive three-month trial. The accused, Janson Bryan Baker, 29, is facing two first-degree murder charges in connection to the case. The trial commenced with jury selection, and Baker has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The prosecutor mentioned Nadine Vosburgh as a key witness who is expected to testify about her relationship with Sylvio Saulnier, the son of the deceased couple. Vosburgh reportedly discovered the bodies of the Saulniers on the morning of September 7, 2019, at their residence. The courtroom atmosphere was tense as Burgess revealed graphic details of the fatal gunshots inflicted on the victims.

The narrative unfolded with insights into the complex life of the couple’s son, Sylvio, who was entangled in the realm of drug trafficking alongside a network led by Jesse Logue. The rift between Logue and Sylvio escalated following police raids targeting the network, leading to suspicions of betrayal and theft within the group. Allegations suggest that Baker was tasked by Nicholas Bain to eliminate Sylvio as retribution for the network’s losses and suspicions of betrayal.

Baker’s alleged involvement in the crime was elaborated on, with a witness recounting Baker’s confession of being directed to locate and eliminate Sylvio, which tragically resulted in the killing of his unsuspecting parents. The trial is set to proceed with further testimonies and evidence, shedding light on the events leading to the double homicide in Dieppe.

The harrowing account presented by the Crown sets the stage for a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths of Bernard and Rose-Marie Saulnier, underscoring the intricate web of relationships and conflicts within the drug-trafficking network that culminated in the fateful incident. Justice Cameron Gunn’s instructions to the jurors emphasized the preliminary nature of the Crown’s statement, hinting at the intricate legal proceedings that lie ahead in the pursuit of justice for the victims.
