“NHL Suspends Flames’ Beecher, Jets’ Stanley for Roughing”

Sports"NHL Suspends Flames' Beecher, Jets' Stanley for Roughing"

The NHL’s player safety department handed down one-game suspensions to Calgary Flames forward John Beecher and Winnipeg Jets defenseman Logan Stanley for separate roughing incidents. Beecher landed a surprise punch on Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron while being held back by two linesmen during the first period of Calgary’s 4-3 defeat on Saturday. The punch occurred right after McCarron initiated a scuffle near the Flames’ bench by dropping his gloves and taking swings at Beecher. Beecher, aged 24, was penalized with a roughing minor and a 10-minute misconduct and later exited the game due to injury after a fight with Nashville’s Nic Hague in the second period. On the other hand, Stanley threw an ungloved punch at Ottawa Senators’ Brady Tkachuk during the second period of Winnipeg’s 4-2 loss on Saturday. The 27-year-old Stanley received penalties for roughing and an illegal equipment infraction, while Tkachuk, visibly upset by the incident, was handed a 10-minute misconduct. Notably, both Beecher and Stanley had clean disciplinary records in their NHL careers, with Beecher playing 155 games and Stanley having participated in 242 games.
