World"15,000 Crabs Spill onto Irish Highway; Heroic Effort Ensues"

Odhran McLaughlin faced a challenging task of corralling 15,000 crabs that spilled onto a highway in the darkness. The incident occurred when a transport truck carrying live crabs overturned in County Donegal, Ireland. McLaughlin, the owner of McLaughlin’s Car Dismantlers and Recovery, was unexpectedly confronted with the task of dealing with the situation.

Initially unaware that the truck was transporting live crabs, McLaughlin was surprised by the sight of thousands of scuttling crustaceans trying to escape near the sea. With the help of local volunteers, crab fishermen, a veterinarian, and residents from nearby villages, McLaughlin spent 18 hours gathering the crabs and returning them to safety.

Despite the efforts, some of the crabs did not survive the ordeal, and those rescued were deemed unfit for consumption. McLaughlin attributed the accident to unfamiliarity with the rural roads of Donegal by the truck driver. Following the challenging rescue operation, McLaughlin expressed a strong aversion to encountering crabs in the future.
