“Google Unveils Gmail Address Change & AI Inbox”

Technology"Google Unveils Gmail Address Change & AI Inbox"

Google has introduced a new feature that allows users to change their Gmail addresses. This feature, which has been in development since late last year, is now available for all users. Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that users no longer have to be stuck with an email address from the past.

In a recent statement, Pichai mentioned, “2004 was a good year, but your Gmail address doesn’t need to be stuck in it.” To change your Gmail address while maintaining the same account, users can visit the settings page on Gmail and select an available address.

After changing your Gmail address, all emails sent to the new address will be delivered to your inbox, while the old address will remain linked to your account, ensuring that it cannot be claimed by others. The feature is currently accessible to a limited number of users.

In addition to this update, Google is enhancing Gmail with AI features through the introduction of an “AI Inbox.” This feature, known as Gemini, aims to declutter your inbox by prioritizing important emails. Users will see sections like “suggested to-dos,” highlighting urgent emails such as bill payments in bold with their due dates.

Another aspect of the AI Inbox is the “topics to catch up on” section, providing consolidated updates on travel bookings and restaurant reservations. Currently, the AI Inbox is only available to select users in the US. Gemini can already summarize emails within the Gmail inbox.

The integration of AI features into Gmail aims to enhance user experience and streamline email management.
