Two school-going siblings sustained injuries after they fell from a moving Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus in Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. The incident occurred when the bus door suddenly opened while navigating a curve, causing the girls, who were standing near the entrance due to overcrowding, to be thrown onto the road. They were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, although their current condition remains undisclosed.
The CCTV footage of the accident captured the sisters falling separately as the bus continued its journey, sparking concerns regarding passenger safety and overcrowding on state-operated buses.
In a separate incident, 36 individuals were injured when a private bus veered off a bridge in Shivamogga district, Karnataka. The accident occurred near Kagehalla in Veerapura village of Bhadravati taluk, as the bus was en route from Channagiri to Bhadravati. The driver apparently lost control near a bridge over a stream, leading the bus to collide with the barrier and overturn into the shallow water below. All 36 occupants, including the driver and conductor, sustained injuries, with 25 of them having minor injuries and receiving treatment at a nearby medical facility.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, with a case registered at the Bhadravati Rural police station.
