Taylor Swift has claimed the top spot on Spotify’s inaugural list of the most streamed artists ever, which was released on Thursday morning. Following closely behind is Puerto Rican sensation Bad Bunny, who in 2025 was named the streaming service’s most played artist of the year for the fourth time, surpassing Swift. The two artists have been in a back-and-forth battle for the top position, with Swift holding the title for two consecutive years before Bad Bunny’s reign from 2020 to 2023.
Drake secures the third spot on Spotify’s all-time most streamed artists list, with The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, and others following in the rankings. Spotify did not disclose its data collection methods when questioned by The Associated Press.
In honor of its 20th anniversary, Spotify has also compiled lists of its most streamed albums, songs, podcasts, and audiobooks. Streaming continues to be a significant revenue source for the music industry, accounting for 82% of total revenue in the U.S. according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
Founded in April 2006 in Sweden, Spotify is the leading music platform globally, capturing over 31% of the market share with a reported user base of 751 million and 290 million subscribers across 184 markets.
Some of Spotify’s most streamed albums of all time include Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti,” The Weeknd’s “Starboy,” Ed Sheeran’s “÷ (Deluxe),” and Taylor Swift’s “Lover.” Among the most streamed songs are The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” and The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather.”
These rankings highlight the enduring popularity and impact of artists across various genres on Spotify’s platform.
