“Seventh LPG Tanker En Route to India Through Strait of Hormuz”

National"Seventh LPG Tanker En Route to India Through Strait of Hormuz"

Another LPG tanker bound for India, named Green Sanvi, is currently sailing through the Strait of Hormuz, as per data from the ship-tracking platform VesselFinder. This marks the seventh LPG carrier heading to India to pass through the critical chokepoint since the conflict in West Asia began.

Green Sanvi is navigating the Strait of Hormuz via the Larak–Qeshm channel, while two other tankers, Jag Vikram and Green Asha, are currently stationary. Previously, six LPG tankers – Shivalik, Nanda Devi, Jag Vasant, BW Tyr, BW Elm, and Pine Gas – had already arrived at the Indian coast. Green Sanvi, boasting a deadweight of 58,811 metric tonnes, is on par with the large LPG carriers that have previously reached Indian shores.

Approximately 15 Indian oil and gas vessels, including Green Asha and Jag Vikram, are stranded to the west of the Strait of Hormuz. While Green Sanvi has resumed its journey towards the Qeshm-Larak crossing after activating its AIS, the other two vessels seem to be immobile near the chokepoint.

The final destination port in India for Green Sanvi is currently undisclosed. The vessel is transmitting a “India Ship India Crew” message in its destination signal, a strategy increasingly adopted by Indian-related ships recently to lower the risk of being targeted by IRGC forces.
