“Indian Stock Markets Closed on April 3 for Good Friday”

Business"Indian Stock Markets Closed on April 3 for Good Friday"

Indian stock markets will be closed on April 3 in observance of Good Friday, providing traders with an extended weekend break. Good Friday holds significance for Christians worldwide, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. It is a day of prayer, fasting, and reflection leading up to Easter Sunday, which celebrates his resurrection.

Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will be shut for the day, resulting in no trading or settlement activities in equity, equity derivatives, or the Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) segments. Investors will enjoy a three-day break with Friday being a holiday and the markets closed on Saturday and Sunday. This pause can evoke a mix of relief and caution for active traders, particularly amidst uncertain global cues.

Trading is scheduled to resume on Monday, April 6, following the weekend. The holiday calendar for 2026 includes a total of 16 non-trading days, excluding weekends, with upcoming breaks such as Ambedkar Jayanti in April, Maharashtra Day in May, and major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, and Christmas later in the year.

It is essential for investors to keep in mind that while markets are on holiday, global market movements can still impact sentiment upon resumption of trading. Despite this, domestic markets will take a brief pause before returning to regular activity next week.
