Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is scheduled to provide testimony before the US Congress on June 10, 2026, regarding his interactions with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Gates had previously expressed regret for his association with Epstein after his name emerged in the Epstein Files.
According to a report by the BBC, Gates will be appearing before the House Oversight Committee, which is conducting an inquiry into Epstein’s actions. A spokesperson for Gates mentioned that he is eager to respond to all the committee’s inquiries to assist in their crucial investigation.
The reason Bill Gates was mentioned in the Epstein Files pertains to his communications and connections with Jeffrey Epstein, which were part of over three million documents released by the US Department of Justice earlier this year. It is important to note that Gates has not faced any allegations of wrongdoing from Epstein’s victims, and inclusion in the investigative files does not imply any criminal behavior.
Gates has openly acknowledged his past interactions with Epstein. He cancelled his planned attendance at the India AI Impact Summit earlier this year upon the revelation of his ties to the convicted sex offender. Gates has admitted to having engaged in relationships with two Russian women, which Epstein became aware of. Epstein once mentioned in a note that he assisted Gates in obtaining drugs to address the aftermath of interactions with these women.
During a meeting with staff from the Gates Foundation, Gates apologized for his connections with Epstein, emphasizing that he did not engage in any illicit activities. He clarified that he never spent time with Epstein’s victims and women associated with him. Gates disclosed that his encounters with Epstein were limited to dinners and that he never visited Epstein’s infamous island.
A spokesperson representing Gates informed the BBC that while Gates acknowledges meeting with Epstein was a significant error in judgment, he vehemently denies any inappropriate behavior linked to Epstein’s criminal activities.
Bill Gates is not the sole tech figure mentioned in the Epstein Files. Other tech personalities named in the documents include Google co-founder Sergey Brin, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, former Microsoft executive Steven Sinofsky, and tech magnate Elon Musk, who denies ever visiting Epstein’s island.
The House Oversight Committee has requested Gates’s testimony, following the appearances of notable figures like former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in February. Additionally, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and former Attorney General Pam Bondi are expected to provide testimony soon.
Meanwhile, billionaire investor Warren Buffett disclosed that he has not communicated with Gates since the details of Gates’s association with Epstein became public. Buffett expressed a wish to avoid involvement as a potential witness, citing strained communication between him and Gates due to the controversy surrounding the matter.
