A tragic incident unfolded near the capital of Bangladesh as a fire engulfed a gas lighter factory, claiming the lives of at least five individuals, authorities confirmed.
The fire erupted in the Kadamtali region of Keraniganj, situated close to Dhaka, as reported by the fire service and civil defense personnel.
Efforts to douse the flames involved the deployment of seven firefighting squads, with the fire originating in the afternoon and taking several hours to bring under control, according to the fire department.
By evening, firefighters had recovered five bodies from the site, yet their identities remained unknown.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
