Benchmark stock market indices started the day on a positive note on Friday, buoyed by favorable global trends on Dalal Street. Automotive, financial, and banking sectors saw gains, while IT stocks experienced a decline.
The S&P BSE Sensex surged by 442.82 points to reach 77,074.48, and the NSE Nifty50 climbed by 144.95 points to 23,920.05 by 9:28 am.
Leading the gains on the Sensex was Axis Bank Ltd, which rose by 2.00%. Following closely was Bajaj Finserv Ltd with a 1.77% increase, and Bajaj Finance Ltd with a 1.65% rise. ICICI Bank Ltd also saw a gain of 1.55%, while Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd registered a 1.54% advance.
On the flip side, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd witnessed the most significant decline, dropping by 3.34%. Infosys Ltd slipped by 1.92%, Tech Mahindra Ltd by 1.77%, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd by 1.65%, and HCL Technologies Ltd by 1.38% during early trading hours.
