During the Delhi Capitals versus Mumbai Indians match on April 4th at the Arun Jaitley stadium, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) director Anand Verma raised concerns about ticket fraud. Verma alleged that unauthorized individuals used duplicate passes to gain entry, resulting in valid ticket holders being denied access to the hospitality section. He filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central District) after discovering that his tickets had been scanned and used by unknown persons.
Verma expressed his disappointment when he and his guests were prevented from entering the stadium despite holding valid tickets. He emphasized that the complimentary tickets in his possession had already been utilized by unauthorized individuals. Upon realizing the situation, Verma notified DDCA’s Chief Financial Officer Manan Gupta and informed DDCA president Rohan Jaitley about the fraudulent ticket use.
Regarding the incident, Verma criticized the lack of action taken by Mr. Manan Gupta and highlighted the security risks associated with the misuse of tickets. He emphasized that such activities compromised the stadium’s security apparatus and posed a significant threat to public safety. In response to the allegations, DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma attributed the issue to a technical glitch, mentioning that the scanner sometimes fails to read the barcode.
Delhi Capitals are set to participate in five more matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season at the Arun Jaitley stadium.
