A fan had a remarkable experience when cricketer Sanju Samson generously gifted him a new smartphone during a brief stop in Kerala. The incident occurred near Punchappadam School on the Mundur–Thootha road in Palakkad. Sanju Samson, traveling from Kozhikode to Coimbatore, made a stop at around 5:15 pm to attend a phone call. On the other hand, Shabareesh, a cable technician from Katampazhippuram, and his friend Manikandan were heading to a nearby cricket ground in Mangalankunnu when they spotted Sanju in a parked car. Intrigued, they went closer and recognized him.
While Sanju was on a video call, he motioned for them to wait. After the call, he engaged with them, inquiring about their well-being and offering to take a photo together. Shabareesh used his damaged phone to take a selfie, which caught Sanju’s attention. Without hesitation, Sanju fetched a new smartphone from his car, valued at approximately Rs 30,000, and gifted it to Shabareesh. After a brief exchange, Sanju continued his journey, leaving Shabareesh and his companion amazed by the unexpected act of kindness.
This heartwarming incident comes at a time when Sanju Samson has been facing challenges on the cricket field. Despite delivering outstanding performances during the closing stages of the T20 World Cup to assist India in retaining their title, he has struggled to maintain that form since joining the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Starting off quietly in yellow, Samson has scored 6, 7, and 9 in his initial three matches. His batting struggles align with CSK’s winless streak this season. With high expectations post his World Cup success, Samson aims to find his form swiftly as CSK strives to reverse their fortunes in the ongoing campaign.
