In a surprising reversal of actions, Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Thushara, who had previously taken legal action against his cricket board for refusing to grant him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for IPL participation, has now issued an apology to the governing body and is contemplating withdrawing his case.
Sources within Sri Lanka Cricket revealed that Thushara expressed regret in an email to SLC, emphasizing that his aim was not to cause inconvenience to the governing body. He stated that his primary goal was to seek fairness and justice, feeling that he had been treated unjustly.
This change in stance occurred after the SLC informed the District Court that they would be submitting objections to Thushara’s application for court intervention to facilitate his involvement in the 2026 IPL.
Thushara, aged 31, had initiated legal proceedings seeking an order instructing Sri Lanka Cricket to provide him with an NOC. The SLC had rejected his request, citing unsuccessful fitness assessments. The court accepted the SLC’s plea, scheduling the next hearing for April 23.
With 30 T20 international appearances under his belt since 2022, Thushara was set to represent the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming season, having previously competed in the 2024 and 2025 editions of the tournament.
