Apple is stirring up excitement around its upcoming iPhone models well ahead of the usual September launch window. Early speculations suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro could bring significant enhancements that are worth anticipating. One notable change could be the introduction of a new color option, Dark Cherry, replacing the vibrant Cosmic Orange seen on the previous iPhone 17 Pro.
Reports from Macworld, citing insider information from Apple’s supply chain, indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro series might feature the elegant Dark Cherry as a signature color option. This deep, wine-like shade is expected to add a touch of sophistication to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, diverging from the earlier rumored “Dark Red” variant. Alongside Dark Cherry, Apple is also exploring other color choices such as Light Blue, a darker grey shade, and a silver iteration, although these options are subject to change as the devices are not in full production yet.
In terms of design, sources suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro models will closely resemble their predecessors with minor refinements. Notable changes may include a smaller Dynamic Island for increased screen space and a potentially reduced gap between the rear glass cutout and the camera bump, although this adjustment is not confirmed.
Internally, Apple is expected to introduce the A20 Pro chip built on TSMC’s 2nm process for enhanced performance. Paired with Apple’s new C2 modem, the A20 Pro chip is set to deliver improved 5G connectivity and better battery efficiency. The Pro Max variant is rumored to come with a larger battery capacity of around 5,200mAh.
Furthermore, advancements in camera technology are anticipated with a possible variable aperture feature on the main 48MP camera, offering users more control over light intake for enhanced creativity, especially in bright conditions. A front camera upgrade to 24MP is also in the pipeline.
The foldable iPhone, speculated to be named the iPhone Ultra, is expected to debut alongside the Pro models in September 2026. However, the standard iPhone 18 release may be delayed to 2027. Apple is reportedly planning to launch the base model and the iPhone 18e in spring 2027.
