The Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of reaching the American League Championship Series with just one more win needed.

In a dominating performance, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. crushed a grand slam and rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage shined in his fourth major league start as Toronto triumphed over the New York Yankees with a score of 13-7 on Sunday.

This victory propelled Toronto to a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five AL Division Series after their resounding 10-1 win over New York in Game 1.

Daulton Varsho showcased his power with two home runs for the Blue Jays, while Ernie Clement and George Springer also contributed with home runs in front of a packed crowd of 44,764 at Rogers Centre.

Yesavage dazzled with an impressive 11 strikeouts in 5 1/3 hitless innings, setting a postseason record for the Blue Jays. The no-hit bid was broken in the sixth inning by Aaron Judge’s infield single off reliever Justin Bruihl.

Toronto now has the opportunity to sweep the three-game series with a victory on Tuesday at 8:08 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium. The Blue Jays are aiming to secure their first playoff series win since 2016.
