Victoria Mboko and Felix Auger-Aliassime have resumed their winning ways at the start of the 2026 tennis season. The duo led Canada to a 3-0 victory over China in the United Cup mixed teams event, dominating the Group B round-robin matchup.

Auger-Aliassime, ranked No. 5 in men’s singles, defeated Zhang Zhizhen 6-4, 6-4, while Mboko, ranked 18th in women’s singles, staged a comeback to beat Lin Zhu 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. The Canadian pair then combined forces for a convincing 6-1, 6-3 win in the mixed doubles match against Xiaodi You and Rigele Te.

Auger-Aliassime had a successful previous season, reaching the U.S. Open semifinals, securing an ATP 250 title at the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open, and making it to the ATP Finals semifinals.

The 25-year-old Montreal native started his season with a victory for the first time since 2021, expressing satisfaction with his performance. On the other hand, 19-year-old Mboko made significant strides in the past season, climbing from beyond the top 300 to break into the top 20 rankings. She clinched the WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Montreal and closed out 2025 on a high note by winning the Hong Kong Open title.

Canada’s next challenge in the United Cup is against Belgium on Tuesday in the group stage, as the tournament is set to conclude on January 11.
