Canadian athlete Nate Tucker achieved a remarkable victory at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India, setting a new championship record in the men’s 1,500-metre T38 final with a time of three minutes 57.98 seconds. This win marked Tucker’s third world title in the event. The runner from Victoria, B.C., strategically positioned himself near the front before accelerating on the final lap to secure the lead. By doing so, Tucker improved upon his own record set six years ago in Dubai by reducing his time by 3.9 seconds.
Formerly known as Nate Riech, the 30-year-old athlete had previously claimed the 1,500-metre world title in Paris in 2023. He followed this victory with a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics in 2024. Tucker’s exceptional performance at the championships solidified his status as a top contender in the world of para athletics.
