Sports"Homan to Compete Against Brown in PointsBet Invitational Final"

Rachel Homan from Ottawa is set to compete against Corryn Brown from Kamloops in the women’s final of the PointsBet Invitational curling tournament in Calgary on Sunday. Homan, along with Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew, and Sara Wilkes, secured their spot in the final by defeating Christina Black’s team from Halifax 9-5 on Saturday night. In a pivotal moment during the match, Homan, trailing 2-1 in the fifth end, scored five points with the hammer, seizing control of the game. Despite Black responding with two points in the sixth end to close the gap to 6-4, Homan extended her lead by scoring three more points in the seventh end, leading to a handshake as Black could only manage one point in the eighth end.

On the other side, Corryn Brown, alongside Erin Pincott, Sara Koltun, and Samantha Fisher, advanced to the final with a 10-5 victory over Kayla Skrlik’s team from Calgary. Brown’s team took an early lead by scoring three points in the first end and continued to dominate with additional points in the fourth and fifth ends.

In the men’s final, Matt Dunstone and Brad Jacobs, both from Calgary, will face off. Jacobs, supported by Marc Kennedy, Brett Gallant, and Ben Hebert, secured their spot in the final by defeating John Epping’s team from Toronto 8-5. Meanwhile, Dunstone, with Colton Lott, E.J. Harnden, and Ryan Harnden, earned their spot in the final by defeating Mike McEwen’s squad from Saskatoon 9-3.
