Iran is aiming to restore 70–80% of its refining and distribution capacity to pre-attack levels within one to two months, according to a senior oil official. Repair efforts are in progress following recent US and Israeli strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure.
Deputy Minister of Oil Mohammad Sadeq Azimifar stated to the Student News Network that repair work has commenced, and part of the Lavan refinery is expected to resume operations in approximately 10 days. Other units are projected to gradually come back online.
Azimifar confirmed rapid deployment of reconstruction teams to the most affected sites. Contractors were promptly engaged, initiating the clearance of debris and replacement of damaged equipment.
The Lavan Island refinery in southern Iran is among the facilities being addressed, with partial operations set to recommence shortly. These actions are part of a broader initiative to restore production capacity.
Since February 28, over 3,000 individuals have lost their lives in US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran. In response, Tehran conducted retaliatory strikes against Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf nations hosting US military forces. A two-week ceasefire was declared earlier this week.
Recent talks in Islamabad, Pakistan between Iranian and US delegations spanned 21 hours but did not yield an agreement. Both parties departed without resolving key disparities.
Officials have indicated that further diplomatic dialogues will be required to tackle outstanding issues. These discussions mark progress in the ongoing efforts to manage tensions.
