WorldIran's Revolutionary Guards Target US Tech Giants

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have issued a threat to target prominent US technology and industrial firms starting April 1, citing retaliatory measures for alleged attacks on Iranian soil, as per reports from state media. The identified companies, including Microsoft, Google, Apple, Intel, IBM, Tesla, and Boeing, were specifically mentioned, with a caution that their operations in the region might be impacted.

The IRGC stated that these companies should anticipate potential harm to their facilities in response to each alleged act of terrorism in Iran, commencing from 8 PM Tehran time on April 1st. The warning translates to 10 PM in India, given the time zone difference.

In a statement conveyed by the Tasnim news agency, the IRGC highlighted that American ICT and AI companies are now considered primary targets for their tracking and targeting strategies. They also advised employees of these entities to vacate their workplaces promptly for their safety.

In response to the threats, the White House asserted the readiness of the United States to counter any potential assaults. An anonymous White House official emphasized the military’s preparedness to thwart Iranian attacks, citing a significant reduction in ballistic missile and drone attacks by the Iranian regime.

The US military heavily relies on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to bolster its military endeavors. These technologies are integrated into an intelligence framework comprising satellite imagery, surveillance drones, signals intelligence, and real-time data analysis to identify and monitor potential threats.

Central to this system is data collection, where US agencies amass extensive information through various means, subsequently processed by AI systems to swiftly identify patterns, movements, or irregularities that may elude human analysts. This aids military planners in developing a comprehensive understanding of targets, whether they are weapon facilities, command centers, or mobile assets.

Furthermore, technology companies indirectly contribute to military operations by offering cloud infrastructure, mapping tools, or adaptable AI capabilities for defense purposes. Precision targeting is another crucial aspect, facilitated by AI systems that expedite the target identification and execution process. Algorithms can pinpoint high-value targets based on behavior, location data, or communication links, streamlining decision-making and enabling more precise strikes.

Reports suggest that artificial intelligence was utilized by the US military in the capture operation of former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
