In the midst of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have indicated that their continuous offensive against Iran has significantly weakened key capabilities. However, the operation, known as “Operation Roaring Lion,” is still ongoing, with plans for continued strikes.
Lieutenant Ben Cohen, the deputy international spokesperson for the IDF, stated in an interview with India Today TV that the primary focus of the campaign is to dismantle Iran’s military infrastructure. He emphasized that the IDF will persist in their efforts until the set objectives are accomplished, highlighting the clear goals of the operation.
The IDF, in collaboration with the United States, launched “Operation Roaring Lion” to counter what they perceive as an “existential threat” posed by Iran. The operation specifically targets Iran’s military infrastructure, including its ballistic missile program, weapons manufacturing capabilities, and command-and-control systems.
Cohen reported substantial progress in recent weeks, asserting that Israeli and allied forces have gained “aerial superiority” over Iran and have successfully hit numerous targets. Notably, he mentioned that more than 70% of Iran’s ballistic missile launchers have been incapacitated, with continuous strikes on missile storage facilities and production sites.
Despite these advancements, Cohen made it clear that the mission is ongoing until the specified goals are achieved. He emphasized the IDF’s commitment to providing advance warnings to civilians, as evidenced by the recent advisory urging Iranian civilians to avoid rail networks after 9 pm.
Addressing concerns about civilian casualties, Cohen dismissed comparisons based solely on numbers. He highlighted Israel’s efforts in issuing evacuation notices and implementing defensive systems to safeguard civilians, contrasting it with Iran’s alleged strategy of targeting civilian areas and using populated zones for military purposes.
When questioned about potential high-profile targets, Cohen refrained from providing specifics but reiterated that Israel’s primary focus is on government and military command structures. He emphasized the legal scrutiny each target undergoes to evaluate its military significance and potential impact on civilians, stressing compliance with international law.
With no definite timeline for the conclusion of hostilities, the IDF’s communications indicate a sustained campaign aimed at dismantling Iran’s military capabilities. The operation remains anchored in its objective, underscoring the IDF’s commitment to continuing until the mission is accomplished.
