“Judge Dismisses X Corp.’s Antitrust Lawsuit Against Advertisers”

Business"Judge Dismisses X Corp.'s Antitrust Lawsuit Against Advertisers"

A U.S. judge in Dallas has thrown out X Corp.’s antitrust lawsuit against the World Federation of Advertisers and major companies like Mars, CVS Health, and Colgate-Palmolive. The lawsuit, filed in 2024, alleged that these advertisers, through an initiative called Global Alliance for Responsible Media, deliberately withheld advertising revenue from X, formerly Twitter, harming the social media company. However, U.S. District Judge Jane Boyle ruled that X failed to demonstrate any harm under federal antitrust laws.

The lawsuit accused the advertisers of colluding to harm X’s business interests by boycotting the platform, which the defendants denied. They argued that they made independent decisions based on concerns about X’s brand safety following Elon Musk’s 2022 takeover, where he dismissed employees responsible for maintaining a user-friendly and family-oriented environment on the site.

Meanwhile, Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has led to legal battles, including a case where he was found liable for defrauding Twitter shareholders by manipulating the company’s stock price in 2022. Musk’s lawyer has requested a review of the jury’s verdict, questioning the integrity of the decision-making process.

Additionally, Musk’s lawyer raised concerns about the jury’s behavior during the trial, pointing out an alleged mockery involving the number 420, a reference to marijuana culture. The lawyer argued that such actions, combined with other trial errors, undermined the fairness of the verdict. The ongoing legal saga surrounding Musk’s involvement with Twitter continues, with shareholders claiming that Musk’s actions negatively impacted the company’s stock value.
