Alannah Keyser, aged 21, has been ousted as the second participant from the current season of Love Island USA for using a racial slur in a resurfaced online video. The Miami native was introduced as a new contestant during the Casa Amor episodes of the reality dating series on Peacock but was swiftly removed following the emergence of a Snapchat video where she appeared to be singing along to a song containing the N-word.
Love Island USA narrator Iain Stirling announced Alannah’s sudden departure during Thursday night’s episode, stating, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.” Fans observed a decrease in Keyser’s screen time after her initial appearance on Season 8, where she seemed to connect with fellow contestant Zach Georgiou.
This incident is not isolated to this season, as similar occurrences have been noted in the franchise. Prior to the TV premiere, Vasana Montgomery was cut from the Season 8 cast after old clips of her using a racial slur resurfaced.
Last year, Season 7 saw the removal of two cast members due to separate incidents. Yulissa Escobar was ousted for past racial slurs on a podcast shortly after the season debut, while Cierra Ortega faced a similar fate due to online video clips. Both Escobar and Ortega issued public apologies for their actions.
