Sports"New York Sirens Secure Thrilling 4-3 Victory Over Montreal Victoire"

Anna Bargman netted her first goal in the PWHL, while Kristyna Kaltounkova sealed the victory for the New York Sirens in a thrilling 4-3 triumph over the Montreal Victoire in Newark, New Jersey. Bargman’s goal came late in the first period, leveling the score after Laura Stacey put Montreal ahead early on. This marked Bargman’s first point in the PWHL, following her recent performance against the Goldeneyes. She was selected in the fifth round by New York from Yale, where she holds the fourth position on the Bulldogs’ all-time goals list.

Kristin O’Neill added her second goal of the season in the second period for New York (5-0-0-5), only to be answered by Victoire’s captain, Marie-Philip Poulin, with a power-play goal. Kaltounkova continued her scoring streak, putting New York ahead 3-2 with a goal in her fourth consecutive game.

Paetyn Levis extended New York’s lead with a goal assisted by Sarah Fillier midway through the third period. Montreal (3-0-1-4) pulled their goaltender, Sandra Abstreiter, for an extra skater in the final moments. Despite Natalie Mlynkova deflecting Abby Roque’s shot into the net with 24 seconds remaining, Montreal ran out of time to find an equalizer.

Sirens’ goaltender Kayle Osborne had a standout performance, making a career-high 42 saves, while Abstreiter stopped 17 shots for Montreal.

In the upcoming games, the Victoire will host Minnesota on Sunday, while the Sirens will travel to Toronto on January 6.
