Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have officially divorced, putting an end to their 19-year marriage as one of entertainment’s most notable power couples. A Nashville judge, Stephanie J. Williams, finalized the divorce during a hearing, stating that the couple had reached sufficient agreements on dividing assets and child custody, leading to the dissolution of their marriage due to irreconcilable differences.
Despite the divorce, both Kidman and Urban chose not to attend the hearing, and their representatives have not provided immediate comments. Kidman had filed for divorce back in September, a move that surprised many but had been in the works for some time, as all legal matters regarding assets and custody were settled on the day of her filing.
In Tennessee, a 90-day waiting period is required for couples with minor children before the divorce can be finalized. Kidman and Urban, aged 58, share two teenage daughters. The divorce filing cited “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences” as the reasons behind their decision.
According to the signed agreement, Kidman will be the primary residential parent for their children, and they plan to continue living in Nashville, their long-time home. Both parents have waived the need for child or spousal support, and their joint assets are to be divided fairly.
Kidman and Urban, prominent Australian stars, met in Los Angeles in 2005 and tied the knot in Sydney the following year. Throughout their two-decade relationship, they were frequently seen together on the red carpet, with Urban accompanying Kidman to the Oscars and Kidman supporting Urban at music events like the Academy of Country Music Awards. Despite publicly acknowledging some marital challenges, the divorce came as a surprise to many as there were few visible signs of trouble.
Urban’s marriage to Kidman was his first, while Kidman had previously been married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001, with whom she shares two older children.
