“US Defense Secretary Warns Iran of Escalated Conflict”

World"US Defense Secretary Warns Iran of Escalated Conflict"

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned Iran of facing escalated conflict if they do not agree to a deal to end the ongoing month-long war involving the US, Israel, and Iran. Hegseth emphasized that President Donald Trump is open to negotiations to bring an end to the conflict and urged the new Iranian leadership under Mojtaba Khamenei to act wisely.

The conflict intensified after the death of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and subsequent retaliatory attacks by Iran on US and Israeli bases, leading to disruptions in the region, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Hegseth emphasized that time is critical in the Middle East conflict, with mounting pressure on Iran as the war enters its second month.

He noted that US airstrikes have significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities, causing morale to drop, shortages in key personnel, and an increase in desertions within the armed forces. Hegseth highlighted that the US has more options at its disposal while Iran’s capabilities are diminishing rapidly.

The Defense Secretary mentioned increasing strain within Iran’s military leadership, with senior officials becoming frustrated. He also visited US troops in the Middle East to oversee ongoing operations. Hegseth reiterated the US’s stance, warning of further escalation if Iran does not agree to a deal, emphasizing the increasing military strength of the US compared to Iran.

Acknowledging potential missile attacks from Iran, Hegseth assured that US defense systems are prepared to intercept them. He stressed that Iran’s military options are limited in the current situation, urging them to consider the terms of the deal presented by the US.

President Trump also addressed the fuel shortages in affected countries, stating that they must either purchase energy from the US or secure their own supplies through alternative means. He criticized nations, such as the UK, for not participating in the military campaign against Iran, emphasizing the need for collective action.

The crisis stems from Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, affecting global oil supply and causing a surge in crude oil prices. Trump warned of potential military action against Iran’s energy infrastructure if they do not comply with reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iran has rejected US demands and continued attacks on US and allied targets in the region, signaling a possible escalation in the conflict.
