Claire Thompson, Sophie Jaques, and Izzy Daniel netted goals in succession during the third period to lead the newly-formed Vancouver Goldeneyes to a 4-3 triumph over the Boston Fleet on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit as part of the Takeover Tour.
Jamie Lee Rattray opened the scoring for Boston, giving them a 3-1 advantage just 19 seconds into the final period in front of a crowd of 33,871, ranking as the third-largest attendance in league history.
Vancouver, with a record of 3-1-1-5, quickly responded with goals from Thompson at 4:21 and Jaques on a power play at 8:01 to level the score. This marked the second time in 14 opportunities that the Goldeneyes scored with an extra skater.
Daniel then secured the lead for the Goldeneyes 3:22 later, with goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer ensuring the victory.
Tereza Vanišová and Michela Cava assisted on Thompson’s goal, while Daniel and Hannah Miller contributed to Jaques’ tally. Miller also assisted on the game-winner alongside Jenn Gardiner.
Olivia Mobley put Boston ahead 1-0 early in the game with help from Ella Huber and Rylind MacKinnon. Miller equalized for the Goldeneyes just 23 seconds later.
Susanna Tapani regained the lead for the Fleet 2-1, before both teams had a scoreless second period following a strong start by Boston in shots on goal.
Aerin Frankel made 17 saves for Boston, while Maschmeyer stopped 24 shots for Vancouver.
This victory marked the Goldeneyes’ first win in six away games during the 2025-26 PWHL Takeover Tour.
