Iran has issued a warning to tech companies in the Gulf region, stating they are now considered legitimate targets in the ongoing conflict with the US and Israel. The country has already targeted Amazon’s data centers in Bahrain and allegedly the Oracle office in Dubai. The IRGC, part of the Iranian military, named several tech giants, including Google, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon, Oracle, and Cisco, as potential targets due to their alleged involvement in “terrorist” activities on Iranian soil.
The tech companies are accused of aiding the US and Israeli military in locating and targeting Iranian leaders. Iran claims these companies collect vast amounts of data that can be used for surveillance and tracking purposes. While it remains uncertain if tech companies share this data with the US and Israel, reports suggest that some companies have collaborated with Israeli intelligence agencies in the past. In response to Iran’s allegations, tech firms have taken precautions to protect their employees in the Gulf region, with some implementing work-from-home arrangements and emergency measures.
