Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita dismissed the Congress’ accusations that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife possesses passports from three different nations, labeling the documents presented by the party as “fraudulent and falsified.” The Congress had asserted during a press briefing that Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, the wife of the Assam CM, held passports from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Antigua-Barbuda, and Egypt. Margherita addressed the media in Jorhat, stating, “The Congress, led by Pawan Khera and state party chief Gaurav Gogoi, showcased certain documents, including passports, alleging them to belong to the honorable CM’s wife and originating from three foreign countries. As the Minister of State for External Affairs, I can confirm that following inquiries through diplomatic channels and investigations, these documents have been verified as counterfeit and fabricated.”
