Justin Bieber achieved a new milestone at the American Music Awards by clinching the title of best male pop artist for the fifth time, setting a new record. The Canadian artist, hailing from Stratford, Ontario, had previously won the award four times, initially securing the honor in 2010 when it was known as favorite pop/rock male artist.
Arriving at this year’s event in Las Vegas with four nominations, including artist of the year and album of the year for his work on “Swag,” Bieber’s win now brings his total AMA tally to 19, equalling the late Kenny Rogers for the second-most wins by a male artist. Michael Jackson still holds the top spot among male artists, having amassed 24 awards in his career.
In a remarkable comeback, the singer of hits like “Peaches” returned to the stage at Coachella last month, marking his first major performance since canceling a tour in 2022 due to health issues related to Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
Other notable winners at the awards ceremony included BTS, who claimed the artist of the year title, and Sabrina Carpenter, who secured the album of the year award.
