Kanpur Collectorate Demotes Clerks for Typing Test Failures

NationalKanpur Collectorate Demotes Clerks for Typing Test Failures

Three junior clerks at the Kanpur collectorate have been demoted to Class IV positions due to their inability to meet the required typing speed of 25 words per minute. The clerks, Premnath Yadav, Amit Kumar Yadav, and Neha Srivastava, were initially appointed under the compassionate appointment quota.

Upon failing the typing test for the first time in 2024, their salary increments were halted as per regulations. Despite being given another chance in 2025, all three clerks failed to pass the test again. Consequently, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh ordered their demotion following their second consecutive failure.

Premnath Yadav, stationed at the DM camp office, along with Neha Srivastava and Amit Kumar Yadav, based at the collectorate, were downgraded to Class IV roles. The administration took strict action after the clerks failed the typing test twice, leading to their demotion.

Their initial appointments through the compassionate quota stipulated that the first failure would result in a stoppage of salary increments, while the second failure would lead to demotion.
