The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for a batch of No Name frozen beef burgers after a potential E. coli contamination risk was identified. These affected burgers were distributed nationwide in 1.36 kg packages with a best before date of May 5, 2026.
Consumers are urged to discard the impacted product or return it to the place of purchase and refrain from cooking or consuming the burgers. The CFIA emphasizes that food tainted with E. coli O157:H7 may not exhibit visible spoilage signs but can cause illness.
E. coli contamination symptoms may manifest as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and watery to bloody diarrhea. In severe instances, individuals could suffer from complications like stroke or kidney damage. At present, no illness cases linked to the recall have been reported. Nevertheless, the CFIA is actively investigating and warns of potential additional product recalls.
