Nitish Kumar’s official residence in Bihar is being prepared for his departure even before his formal resignation as the Chief Minister. This development follows his recent oath-taking as a Rajya Sabha member. Sources confirm that Kumar’s belongings are being relocated from the chief ministerial residence at 1 Anne Marg in Patna to another government bungalow on 7 Circular Road in the city.
The transition is expected to be completed once Kumar steps down from his role in the state government. The new residence at 7 Circular Road is already set up for his occupancy, having served as his temporary home in the past, notably in 2014 when Jitan Ram Manjhi assumed the position of chief minister.
Throughout his tenure, whenever maintenance work was undertaken at the official CM bungalow, Kumar would temporarily shift to the 7 Circular Road residence. The recent swearing-in of Kumar as a Rajya Sabha member marked a significant moment in Bihar’s political history, symbolizing the conclusion of his long-standing tenure as the state’s Chief Minister.
Sources indicate that Kumar is likely to officially resign on April 14, coinciding with the National Democratic Alliance’s legislative party meeting to elect his successor. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary is reportedly the frontrunner to succeed Kumar. Before assuming his role as a Member of Parliament, Kumar resigned from the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30, following his election to the Rajya Sabha on March 16.
