Bihar police have apprehended a canteen guard in connection with the sexual assault and homicide of a five-year-old boy in Jehanabad district. The tragic incident occurred at a private school hostel in the Karauna police station area on April 6. The child, whose throat was slit, was first taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Patna, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities disclosed that a special investigative team was formed to look into the case due to its severity. Initially, the hostel operator, Tarun Kumar alias Gandhi, was detained for interrogation and subsequently remanded to custody. As the investigation progressed, suspicions shifted towards the canteen guard, Mukesh Kumar alias Sudama, residing in the Pali police station area. After being taken into custody, Sudama purportedly confessed to the crime during questioning.
The post-mortem examination confirmed that the child was sexually assaulted before his demise. Surveillance footage from the hostel premises depicted the suspect behaving suspiciously around the time of the incident, bolstering the case against him. Sudama, in his statement to the police, mentioned personal struggles following his wife’s departure and alleged strained relations with the hostel operator as factors leading to his actions.
Authorities are verifying the accused’s assertions as part of the ongoing inquiry. The police are aiming for a swift trial to ensure justice for the victim. They are thoroughly analyzing forensic evidence and witness testimonies to construct a solid prosecution case. The incident has sparked public outcry, prompting the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation to demand a judicial investigation. Concerns were raised regarding the child’s injuries and the school’s closure before the arrival of the fact-finding team.
