Lucknow Super Giants’ speedster Mayank Yadav is set to make a comeback in their upcoming match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League. After his last appearance on May 4, 2025, Mayank has fully recovered from his injury, confirmed by team director Tom Moody.
Moody expressed optimism about the return of Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan, highlighting their significance as key fast bowlers for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. He praised the team’s medical staff for diligently managing the rehabilitation process of the duo, who have been sidelined due to long-term injuries.
Addressing the media before the match against RCB, Moody mentioned the efforts put in to prepare Mayank and Mohsin for their return. He stated that both players are now fit to play, with Mohsin undergoing a final fitness test for potential selection. Mayank, on the other hand, was gradually integrated back into the team to ensure he was fully ready to handle the demands of bowling.
Mayank Yadav’s appearances in the previous IPL season were limited to just two matches, with his last game against Punjab Kings on May 4 where he struggled to find his usual pace and form. However, Moody expressed confidence in both Mayank and Mohsin’s readiness to contribute to the team’s bowling lineup if needed.
In the absence of the two pacers, experienced campaigner Mohammed Shami has taken the lead in the bowling attack for Lucknow Super Giants this season. Shami’s standout performance against SunRisers Hyderabad on April 5 showcased his prowess, securing four wickets in four matches so far.
Moody commended Shami’s skills and leadership qualities, acknowledging his vital role as the linchpin of the team’s bowling unit. With Lucknow Super Giants currently positioned seventh in the league standings, they aim to challenge Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 15.
