“Apple CEO Tim Cook Steps Down After 15-Year Transformation”

Business"Apple CEO Tim Cook Steps Down After 15-Year Transformation"

Tim Cook is stepping down as Apple’s CEO after nearly 15 years in charge, leaving a transformative legacy that propelled the company to become one of the world’s most valuable businesses.

Transitioning to the role of executive chairman, Cook leaves behind a company that has skyrocketed to a nearly $4 trillion valuation. His personal wealth has also seen significant growth over the years, with his real-time net worth currently standing at around $2.9 billion, largely attributed to his holdings of Apple stock.

Cook’s journey at Apple began in 1998, after a successful tenure at IBM and a brief stint at Compaq. Initially overseeing operations and supply chain, he later rose to the position of chief operating officer under Steve Jobs before assuming the role of CEO in 2011.

During his tenure as CEO, Apple experienced remarkable growth, with its market value surging from around $350 billion to nearly $4 trillion. Annual revenue also saw substantial growth, reaching over $416 billion in 2025. Under Cook’s leadership, Apple expanded globally, operating 500+ retail stores and achieving an active device base of over 2.5 billion units.

Known for his expertise in operations and scaling, Cook transformed Apple into a global powerhouse with a highly efficient supply chain. The company has now appointed John Ternus, its current hardware chief and longtime insider, as the next CEO, with the transition set for September 1.

Despite not being a founder like Steve Jobs, Cook’s wealth has been amassed through compensation, stock grants, and long-term performance incentives rather than founding equity. This sets him apart from other tech leaders in Silicon Valley, reflecting in his comparatively lower net worth despite his leadership at Apple. As Cook, now 65, assumes the role of executive chairman, he aims to ensure a smooth transition for the company as it enters a new chapter.
