Canadian athlete Abigail Strate secured a bronze medal in the women’s ski jumping World Cup competition held on Wednesday. Hailing from Calgary, she garnered 222.3 points in the normal hill event, marking her fourth World Cup medal this season, which includes one gold, two silvers, and one bronze. Strate had previously clinched three medals in the large hill category, a discipline that will debut at the upcoming Milano-Cortina Winter Games.
Austria’s Lisa Eder and Slovakia’s Nika Prevc outperformed Strate, finishing ahead of her with scores of 227.9 and 226.5, respectively. Reflecting on her performance, Strate expressed contentment with her results, especially after taking a break from competition. She mentioned her satisfaction with her performance in the qualifying jump and expressed excitement for the upcoming events of the season.
The 24-year-old athlete is preparing for her second Olympic appearance scheduled for February in Italy. Strate had previously participated in the 2022 Games, where she secured a 23rd position in the individual normal hill event and a bronze medal in the mixed team event.
