If you’ve been online recently, chances are you’ve come across the name Anthropic. This AI startup is making waves for its advancements in AI technology. In just five years, Anthropic has achieved a valuation of $350 billion. One of their standout products is Claude Code, an AI coding tool that can autonomously generate extensive code lines, potentially outperforming human programmers. However, users of Claude Code have raised concerns about recent changes that seem to inflate usage costs.
Recent updates to Anthropic’s paid plans have sparked discontent among users. The Claude Pro plan, previously priced at $20 (approximately Rs 1,876), no longer includes access to Claude Code, a feature that was previously available.
This change implies that users wanting to utilize Claude Code now need to upgrade to the Claude Max plan, priced at $100 (approximately Rs 9,380), marking a significant cost escalation for a tool they may have relied on for an extended period.
Users Critique Anthropic’s Strategy, OpenAI Responds
The alteration sparked outrage among users, with some deeming it a questionable decision. One user labeled it as “borderline suicidal,” expressing that removing Claude Code entirely seemed counterproductive for a company known for its coding prowess. Another user echoed similar sentiments, denouncing the move as a “massive betrayal.”
