Apple is anticipated to make significant moves in 2026, with plans to broaden its range of products beyond the speculated iPhone Fold to include new AI gadgets like smart glasses. There have been ongoing rumors suggesting that Apple might unveil its AI smart glasses towards the end of 2026.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is gearing up to compete with Meta Ray-Bans by offering a diverse selection of styles and colors for its AI smart glasses. This move aims to provide users with a variety of options to cater to their preferences.
While Apple is actively working on its smart glasses, it’s worth noting that London-based phone maker Nothing is also poised to introduce its own line of smart glasses soon.
The design of Apple’s AI smart glasses is said to be display-less, designed for everyday use akin to Meta Ray-Bans (N50). The design team is reportedly experimenting with at least four frame styles, ranging from large and slim rectangular frames to larger and smaller oval or circular frames. There are speculations that some of these frame styles might resemble the glasses worn by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.
In terms of colors, black, ocean blue, and light brown are among the options being considered for the frames, which are crafted from acetate, a durable and premium material that could differentiate Apple’s smart glasses from competitors using plastic.
Expected features of Apple’s smart glasses include built-in cameras and Siri support. Siri is set for a significant update to run on Google’s Gemini models, enhancing its functionality. Users can anticipate features like capturing photos and videos, making phone calls, listening to music, and interacting hands-free with Siri.
The smart glasses are part of a broader AI wearables strategy by Apple, which also includes new AirPods and a camera-equipped pendant. These devices will leverage computer vision to enhance Siri’s responses, offering improved navigation and visual reminders.
While the launch of Apple’s smart glasses is projected for the end of 2026 or early 2027, pricing details are yet to be disclosed. In comparison, Meta Ray-Bans (Gen 2) start at Rs 39,900 in India. Unlike Apple’s previous plans involving mixed reality and augmented reality headsets, this upcoming product aims to be a simpler everyday device.
