Shetty triumphed in a closely contested first game with a score of 23-21 and then dominated the second game, ending it at 21-17.
This achievement marks Shetty’s second significant upset in the tournament. In the initial round, he eliminated the 7th-ranked player in the world, Li Shi Feng, and the 2025 Hong Kong Open champion, in straight sets of 21-13, 21-16. He continued his winning streak by defeating Chi Yu Jen in the subsequent round.
