Canada’s national men’s soccer team is set to play friendly matches against Iceland and Tunisia in Toronto’s BMO Field during the March international window. The Canadian team, ranked 29th globally, will take on Iceland on March 28 and Tunisia on March 31. Both visiting teams will also play against Haiti in Toronto during the same window.
In June, Canada will face Uzbekistan in Edmonton on June 1, with one more opponent yet to be announced. Additionally, the team, led by coach Jesse Marsch, will play a European opponent in Montreal on June 5 or 6 as part of their final World Cup preparation.
The Canadian team will kick off their World Cup campaign on June 12 against a European qualifier in Toronto. They will then head to Vancouver to play against Qatar and Switzerland on June 18 and 24, respectively.
Tunisia, ranked 47th in the world, secured their spot in the World Cup by topping their African qualifying group with an impressive 9-0-1 record. Meanwhile, Iceland, ranked 74th, missed out on qualification after finishing third in their European qualifying group. France and Ukraine secured their spots in the tournament from the same group.
Haiti, ranked 83rd, has also qualified for the World Cup.
In a recent friendly match, Canada secured a 1-0 victory over Guatemala in Los Angeles, with Jacen Russell-Rowe scoring the lone goal off a setup by Malik Henry.
