Technology"Canadian Astronauts Celebrate Historic Lunar Mission Success"

Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen and the Artemis II crew were warmly welcomed at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) headquarters following their expedition to the far side of the moon. Speaking in Longueuil, Que., Hansen expressed gratitude to the individuals present for their contribution to the mission’s success.

The 10-day journey led by Hansen, mission commander Reid Wiseman, and astronauts Victor Glover and Christina Koch set a record for the farthest distance from Earth traveled by humans. Koch mentioned that both she and Glover had undergone training in Canada, making CSA feel like a second home to them.

During a Q&A session with Industry Minister Mélanie Joly and the public, the crew emphasized the diverse perspectives brought by the international composition of the Artemis II team, enhancing the mission’s strength and fostering global unity. Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jenni Gibbons, part of the team at NASA’s Mission Control Center, also participated in the discussion.

The astronauts’ exceptional skills, humor, and significant contributions to the first lunar mission in fifty years were commended by their colleagues at the Canadian Space Agency headquarters in Quebec.
