The case involving suspended Kishanganj SDPO Gautam Kumar and his alleged disproportionate assets has taken a new twist as the Economic Offences Unit is now scrutinizing the financial affairs of a female domestic worker, Paro, employed at his residence. Sources suggest that Paro has accumulated wealth through her connection with Kumar, managing financial transactions on his behalf and leveraging his support to acquire significant properties. Viral images show her with a Thar SUV, a Royal Enfield Bullet, and large amounts of cash. Paro and her family members have gone missing since the EOU initiated a separate investigation into her situation.
Following the suspension of Kumar by the Bihar government on April 7, subsequent raids uncovered disproportionate assets totaling Rs 80 crore across Kishanganj, Patna, and Purnia. The EOU’s probe into Kumar’s case has unveiled that he was amassing wealth to aid a female friend’s political aspirations, intending to back her as a candidate from Kishanganj. Furthermore, Kumar harbored ambitions of entering politics post his retirement in 2030.
The agency disclosed that Kumar had procured 16 plots in Purnia, registering them under the names of seven girlfriends, four wives, three mothers-in-law, and a son. Additionally, investigations uncovered a tea estate, a bungalow, and a two-story building in Siliguri associated with him. As the EOU expands its investigation, efforts are underway to trace how Kumar amassed and transferred his disproportionate assets.
