A traffic accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly on Sunday resulted in the dramatic rescue of a kidnapped man from Gurugram and two children, with three alleged abductors dead and another critically injured, according to police reports.
The victims, who had been abducted from Gurugram, were being transported through Bareilly in an SUV when it collided with a tanker on the Bareilly-Rampur stretch of the Lucknow-Delhi highway. The crash claimed a total of five lives, including three of the kidnappers.
Police stated that the abductors had taken Manoj, the man, and two children and were passing through Bareilly when their newly purchased Bolero SUV crashed into a tanker, resulting in severe damage to the vehicle.
While three kidnappers lost their lives at the scene, the children sustained injuries and were swiftly taken to a hospital. Manoj was rescued and admitted for medical care.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Manmohan from Bareilly, Sikandar from Pilibhit, and Vishesh Yadav from Rampur. Another accused, Prince, survived the accident and is currently receiving treatment under police supervision.
Initial investigations suggest that the kidnapping could have been motivated by ransom or a personal conflict. Police revealed that Manmohan, one of the deceased suspects, had connections to Manoj’s extended family.
During interrogation, it was discovered that a woman linked to Manoj’s family was reportedly in a relationship with Manmohan and desired to marry him, which was opposed by Manoj. This disagreement might have triggered the abduction, with indications that the accused were planning to harm Manoj.
Bareilly Police, under the leadership of senior officer Manush Pareek, solved the case post-accident and informed Haryana Police. A team from Haryana has arrived in Bareilly to take over the ongoing investigation since the abduction originated in Gurugram.
Authorities mentioned that the suspects were likely intending to relocate the children to another area along the Moradabad-Bareilly route when the accident unfolded, inadvertently exposing the crime and leading to the victims’ rescue.
