Business"Indian Stock Market Surges on Global Optimism and Strong Q4 Results"

Benchmark stock market indices closed higher on Tuesday, buoyed by positive global signals and strong Q4 results from Indian companies, with FMCG and banking sectors leading the gains. The S&P BSE Sensex surged by 753.03 points to reach 79,273.33, while the NSE Nifty50 rose by 211.75 points to close at 24,576.60. According to Vinod Nair, the Head of Research at Geojit Investments Limited, India’s equity markets showed a robust rebound driven by optimism surrounding Iran-U.S. peace talks and favorable global factors.

Nair highlighted that the rally was spearheaded by FMCG and real estate stocks, supported by impressive earnings reports. Banking stocks also saw an upswing following the RBI’s relaxation of forex restrictions. Small-cap stocks outperformed broader indices during the session. Post-market closure, Trent Ltd led the gainers on the Sensex with a 3.55% increase, followed by Hindustan Unilever Ltd at 3.13%. ICICI Bank Ltd, Bajaj Finance Ltd, and HDFC Bank Ltd also posted gains of 2.41%, 2.28%, and 2.04%, respectively.

On the flip side, Bharat Electronics Ltd recorded the steepest decline at 1.33%, while Titan Company Ltd, Reliance Industries Ltd, NTPC Ltd, and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd also closed lower.

Looking ahead, Nair suggested that investors would closely monitor corporate earnings, along with developments in the U.S.-Iran tensions, and trends in the rupee and crude oil prices, which currently show positive signals. It is important for investors to seek advice from qualified brokers or financial advisors before making investment decisions.
