“Instagram Introduces Comment Editing Feature for Improved User Experience”

Technology"Instagram Introduces Comment Editing Feature for Improved User Experience"

Instagram users now have the ability to edit their comments after posting, following an announcement by the social media platform on Thursday. This new feature allows users to make changes to their comments within a 15-minute window, aimed at improving the user experience. Previously, a similar feature was available on Facebook, another major platform owned by Meta.

The latest update from Instagram allows users to edit their comments multiple times within the specified 15-minute timeframe. Prior to this update, users had to delete a comment and retype it if an error was noticed after posting. This enhancement gives Instagram’s extensive user base of over three billion individuals the flexibility to modify their comments within the given time limit.

To edit a comment on Instagram, users simply need to press and hold the comment, select the “Edit” option from the menu that appears, and make the desired changes. Any edited comment will be labeled with “Edited” in gray to maintain transparency. It’s important to note that only the text part of a comment can be modified; if a comment includes both text and a photo, only the text can be edited.

Similarly, Meta’s messaging platform WhatsApp also offers users the ability to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending them. While this feature is limited to messages as WhatsApp does not support commenting, edited messages are marked with an “edited” label next to the timestamp, visible to all recipients in group chats or one-on-one conversations.

In other news, Instagram is introducing new updates to enhance its market presence. Recently, the platform launched Teen Accounts in India, featuring stronger protections based on 13+ movie rating standards and feedback from parents. These enhancements include displaying more age-appropriate content by default, stricter filtering of sensitive material in feeds, search results, and recommendations, as well as limiting interactions with accounts sharing inappropriate content. Additionally, Instagram is refining its AI responses for younger users and introducing a “Limited Content” setting for parents seeking even tighter control over their children’s online experience. These updates aim to create a safer and more controlled environment for teens on the platform.
