Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau paid a visit to the set of the CBC comedy “Son of a Critch” along with his youngest son, who shares his father’s enthusiasm for the show. Fans may catch a glimpse of Hadrien Trudeau in Season 5, as he makes a cameo appearance as an extra in a school scene.
Mark Critch, the show’s creator, mentioned that he purposely didn’t include the elder Trudeau in any scenes, jokingly stating that there was already a drama teacher on set. Both Trudeau and his son are avid fans of the show, and Critch extended an invitation for them to visit the production set in Newfoundland.
Trudeau shared photos from the visit on his Instagram, expressing gratitude for the experience and praising the show as quintessentially Canadian. During their two-day visit to St. John’s, the father-son duo met the cast and crew, with Trudeau witnessing his son’s performance on the production monitors.
Hadrien impressed actor Malcolm McDowell, who plays Pops, with his knowledge of intricate show details, engaging in trivia discussions about the character’s teacup description. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, portraying a young Mark Critch, revealed that Hadrien discussed acting choices, scene blocking, and background tips with him.
Critch and Trudeau have collaborated on CBC’s “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” exchanging friendly banter. The connection between Trudeau and the show became evident when they attended Critch’s book launch in Ottawa last year. Trudeau, a father of three, including Xavier and Ella-Grace, has seen his children pursue various interests, such as Xavier’s music career debut in 2025.
