In Ranchi, a significant suspected paper leak operation related to the Jharkhand excise constable recruitment exam was uncovered as 159 candidates were detained by the police at an unfinished house. Acting on a confidential tip-off, authorities conducted a late-night raid in Rargaon under the Tamar police station jurisdiction, where candidates were allegedly being coached on potential exam questions. During the operation, officials seized four sets of question papers and answer keys.
Upon initial examination, it was discovered that some of the recovered questions matched the actual exam paper. Specifically, one Khortha language question was confirmed to have been leaked, with another showing partial similarities. However, officials emphasized that conclusive evidence of a complete paper leak is yet to be established.
At a joint press briefing led by IAS officer Prashant Kumar, the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner, and the Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police, it was revealed that Atul Vats, allegedly associated with a solver gang and previously involved in similar exam fraud cases, was identified as the alleged mastermind. The gang reportedly brokered deals amounting to approximately Rs 15 lakh with candidates, who also surrendered their admit cards and other relevant documents to the accused.
In response, the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission chairman declared that all 159 detained candidates would be barred from future commission exams. Police are actively pursuing leads to locate other gang members, with ongoing developments in the case underway.
